World Cheese Awards 2017: Nonno Nanni among the winners

Nonno Nanni has again been selected as a winner in the 2017 edition of the world's most famous international competition for the cheese sector.

Giavera del Montello (Treviso), 28 November 2017: Nonno Nanni  has been named a winner in the most important competition for the world's cheese industry, the World Cheese Awards. Latteria Montello S.p.A., producers of fresh cheeses for over seventy years, was awarded a gold medal and a silver medal for the exceptional qualities of two products, Nonno Nanni Robiola, which won gold and Nonno Nanni Caprino, which took silver in the “Fresh/cream cheese cow’s milk plain” category.

The jury particularly appreciated the freshness and goodness of the two cheeses. Nonno Nanni Robiola has a soft, enveloping consistency and rewards the palate with an intense and authentic flavour. Nonno Nanni cow's milk Caprino stands out for its creaminess and delicious fresh taste. Both of these easy-to-spread products derive from a long tradition of cheese making at Nonno Nanni.

This is the 30th anniversary of the Great Taste Awards, and this year's edition looks like setting new records with over 12,000 entrants. Of these, 3171 won one star, 1011 were awarded two stars and 165 received the coveted three star award. The event's jury is made up of over 500 experts, including chefs, food journalists and specialist writers, judges from food sector talent and TV shows, food critics and buyers from chains like Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. The judges' refined palates decide what products deserve one, two and three stars.

Internationally recognised by sector experts and consumers as the dairy and cheese industry's most prestigious awards, the Great Taste Awards are organised by the British Guild of Fine Food magazine and focus on evaluating only the quality and flavour of the products entered. This focus is confirmed by the fact that, before any product is tasted, all outer and inner packaging is removed to prevent factors other than quality and goodness from influencing the judgement.

Italy excelled in this year's edition, taking 109 medals, demonstrating the excellent quality achieved by Italian cheese producers and the vitality of the country's cheese making industry. Silvia Lazzarin, Marketing and Communications Manager for Nonno Nanni, comments: "We are proud to be among the winners of these prestigious awards this year again. Winning not only repays our determination to offer consumers only the very best products but also makes us and other Italian producers proud to be standard bearers for a typically Italian approach that combines an undertaking to satisfy today's consumers with modern methods of production and a commitment to maintaining traditional flavour and artisan quality."
